Viewing every task as a puzzle to be solved, Matt’s work is dedicated to thinking and rethinking any challenge. Active with VDT’s Collaborative Design Workshop, he believes that good design is iterative, inquisitive, and gutsy. As a design leader at Valerio Dewalt Train, he led the visioning phase and formulated design principles for the University Research Park project, and made significant contributions at Tech Corners and Pacific Shores. He led a project for Juniper Networks in New Jersey that received an AIA Chicago Interiors Award and a Best of Year award from Interior Design Magazine. When he’s not exploring the city with his kids and a good cup of coffee, he tutors elementary students from Chicago Public Schools, and co-hosts monthly birthday parties with his wife for children living at the Uptown YMCA.
