Maya Bird-Murphy earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture in 2014 from Ball State University and is currently a Master of Architecture candidate at Boston Architectural College. During undergrad, Maya was the Co-President of Ball State’s U.S. Green Building Council Student Group; the 2014 Region 7 Student Group of the Year, became a LEED Green Associate and studied abroad in six different countries within Europe and South America. Before joining VDTA in 2016 she worked at several award-winning firms as an architectural designer. Maya believes that architecture should be accessible to all and that communicating this through graphics, architecture and teaching is highly important. She is a workshop designer and implementer as part of the AIA Architects in Schools Committee which strives to bring design and architecture classes back into Chicago Public Schools.

As a new addition to the VDTA Marketing team, Maya is excited to use her graphic and architectural knowledge and diverse perspective to create engaging and innovative solutions.
