A professor once described a design problem as a game of 3 dimensional Chess, an off-the-cuff remark that shaped Matt Godfrey's understanding of both composition and construction, where both artistic and technical pieces are in continuous play. Matt earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Virginia, a short drive from where he grew up. Throughout his academic career, he developed projects through both traditional and digital media, producing complimentary work in lithography, painting, and digital animation. Prior to joining VDTA, Matt worked on various projects in Chicago, including a new school, a residential tower, a data center, and the renovation of a historic building in Chicago's Motor Row District. Matt is excited to be a part the VDTA team as he works toward becoming a licensed architect.
