As a founding principal of VDTA, Joe’s architectural expertise positions him as a leader and innovator in the design world. For him, creating inspired architecture is grounded in the interplay of data and ambiguity, while valuing organizational approaches that build consensus around design solutions. Dedicated to the pursuit of excellence across all aspects of the field, he is a five-time winner of the National AIA Honor Awards. He lives and breathes great design, winning more than 50 juried awards and having his work featured in over 150 journal articles. His tenure also includes university teaching and research, authoring multiple books, lecturing in the United States and abroad, and guiding the growth of one of the best firms in the country.
